(Monrovia Liberia, March 24, 2025) –over 400 nurses and midwives have completed an intensive competency training program aimed at improving high-quality healthcare delivery. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Health through its Nursing and Midwifery Division, was conducted in collaboration with the Liberia Board for Nursing and Midwifery and supported by Nurse 2 Nurse. The week-long training, held in Montserrado and Bong counties, focused on enhancing clinical competencies in both urban and rural areas.
Participants received specialized training on emergency response, critical care, patient safety, and updated nursing protocols to improve healthcare standards nationwide. The program concluded on Friday, March 21, 2025, with a certification ceremony at the Lutheran Hall in Sinkor. All participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the training. As part of the initiative, the training team also paid a courtesy visit to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai. During the meeting, the president expressed deep appreciation for the contributions of international partners toward strengthening the skills of Liberian nurses and midwives. He emphasized the importance of ongoing support in building a resilient healthcare system.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Deputy Minister for Administration, Hon. Martha C. Morris, lauded Nurse 2 Nurse for its unwavering commitment to Liberia’s healthcare sector. “We are deeply grateful to our partners for their continuous support and collaboration, which play a vital role in strengthening our healthcare system,” she stated. The Ministry emphasized that the newly trained nurses and midwives would share their knowledge with colleagues in various health facilities, ensuring a broader impact on healthcare service delivery across the country.
