(Monrovia – June 23, 2025)—The Ministry of Health, through its Community Health Services Division (CHSD), opened a week-long orientation session for master trainers on the revised National Community Health Program Policy (2025–2035) and its accompanying Strategy (2025–2030). The training aimed at strengthening national efforts to roll out the new policy framework ahead of a full-scale implementation in August.
The orientation brings together master trainers, both new and experienced, as well as representatives from various health departments within the ministry. It is designed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the new policy and strategic direction of Liberia’s community health agenda.
Speaking during the formal opening, Mr. Olasford Wiah, Director of the Community Health Services Division, stressed the Ministry’s commitment to health systems strengthening through policy alignment and community engagement. “The intent of this five-day activity is to provide a full understanding of the policy and strategy that will serve as the foundation for the August rollout,” Mr. Wiah noted. “You, as master trainers, are critical to this process. Your knowledge will guide how these materials are communicated and implemented at the community level.” He added, “We appreciate UNICEF for their continued support and urge everyone to give more than the usual attention to the training. We count on you to lead effective supervision and interaction with community health workers across Liberia.”
Representing the Minister of Health, Mr. Moses S. Cleayon, Administrator of the Minister’s Delivery Unit, brought greetings on behalf of Dr. Louise M. Kpoto and Dr. Benedict B. Kolee. “This is an all-important training, and it is our hope that we all pay keen attention to the knowledge that will be shared here,” Mr. Cleayon stated. “It is this training that will help improve community healthcare delivery across Liberia.”
The orientation runs from June 17 to June 21 and is part of Liberia’s continued efforts to decentralize healthcare and empower frontline workers with the tools and policy understanding necessary to deliver quality services at the grassroots level.
