MOH Receives Medical Supplies from PIH to Support TB Response

(Monrovia, Liberia, August 21, 2026)—The Ministry of Health has received an assortment of medical and infection-prevention supplies from Partners In Health (PIH) to strengthen the country’s tuberculosis (TB) response.

The donation, received through the National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Control Program (NLTCP), includes 1,600 Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra cartridges, 16,000 sputum containers with lids, 1,000 ASTM Level 3/EN14683 Type IIR surgical masks, 5,000 examination gloves and 2,000 N95 respirators.

Receiving the supplies on behalf of the Ministry of Health, NLTCP Program Manager Rufus G. Saye commended PIH for its continued support to Liberia’s national TB response.

Manager Saye said the donation comes at a critical time as the National TB Program intensifies efforts to expand diagnosis, identify more TB cases and strengthen services for drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), while protecting healthcare workers and communities from infection.

The donation was led by J. Wilfred Zeon, Deputy Executive Director of Partners In Health, who reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Health and the NLTCP in addressing Liberia’s TB burden.

The Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra cartridges are expected to help sustain laboratory testing for TB and drug-resistant TB, while the sputum containers will support the safe collection and transportation of specimens.

The surgical masks, examination gloves and N95 respirators will strengthen infection prevention and control measures for healthcare workers and patients, particularly at facilities providing TB services.

The support underscores the importance of collaboration between the government and development partners in sustaining Liberia’s efforts to end TB as a public health threat.

The Ministry also reiterated its commitment to strengthening the national TB response and improving the health and wellbeing of communities across Liberia.
