(November 19, 2024, Zwedru)—the Ministry of Health (MOH) extends heartfelt appreciation to the Grand Gedeh Development Association in the Diaspora for donating of neonatal crates to the Neonatal Unit of Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital. The donation presented by Mr. Davison Barlee, County Development Superintendent, on behalf of the diaspora team, represents a collective commitment to advancing maternal and child health in Grand Gedeh County. Speaking during the handover, Honorable Barlee reaffirmed the association’s dedication to supporting the people of Grand Gedeh. He emphasized the critical need to reduce neonatal mortality and expressed hope for sustained population growth, declaring, “No baby should die.” In receiving the donation, County Health Officer, Dr. Daanue Zwuogbae, expressed deep gratitude for the diaspora’s unwavering support. He noted the pressing need for similar interventions in other health facilities, including the Konobo Health Center, to ensure improved maternal and neonatal health outcomes countywide. In a separate development, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Grand Gedeh County Health Team (GGCHT) and Sight Savers, has officially launched the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) of Mectizan in Grand Gedeh County. This program aims to combat river blindness and improve community health outcomes. During the launch, Honorable Henry Zonweay, represented by County Inspector Mr. Henry T. Gaye, commended the Ministry of Health, Sight Savers, and all stakeholders for their dedication to safeguarding the health of Grand Gedeh’s citizens. He called on Community Drug Distributors (CDDs) to ensure thorough coverage and effective implementation of the MDA. The Ministry of Health remains committed to strengthening healthcare delivery and enhancing health outcomes across Liberia.
