(Monrovia, Liberia, September 22, 2026) — The Ministry of Health has begun distributing additional medical equipment and essential supplies to health facilities across the country as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen maternal, newborn and child health services and improve access to critical healthcare.
The latest consignment, procured by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Health, is being distributed from the Central Medical Store in Montserrado County. The equipment and supplies are intended to complement the ongoing Quarterly drug distribution and enhance the capacity of health facilities to provide essential services.
The consignment covers a broad range of health services, including maternal and newborn care, pediatrics, diagnostics, surgery, anesthesia, critical care and other specialized interventions.
The distribution comes as the Ministry continues efforts to equip health facilities with the tools and resources needed by healthcare workers to deliver timely and quality services, particularly to women, newborns and children.
Among the equipment being distributed are manual hospital beds with mattresses, delivery beds, birthing chairs, microdroppers, colposcopes and speculums in small, medium and large sizes.
The consignment also includes specialized neonatal and pediatric equipment, including phototherapy units, neonatal ventilators, neonatal incubators, cribs, bilirubinometers, CPAP machines, ICU beds, pediatric patient monitors, apnea monitors and pulse oximeters.
Other supplies include venous and umbilical arterial catheters, pediatric and neonatal endotracheal tubes, infusion pumps, neonatal and pediatric laryngoscopes, pediatric Ambu bags and cord clamps.
The Ministry is also distributing equipment to strengthen blood transfusion, diagnostic and emergency care services. These include 126-liter blood-bank freezers, 500cc and 250cc blood bags, 12-lead and 12-channel EKG machines, ultrasound machines, gauze drums and autoclaves.
Surgical and specialized-care equipment forms another major component of the consignment. The items include delivery sets, anesthetic machines, Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) equipment, laparoscopic machines and accessories, myomectomy sets, herniorrhaphy sets, Caesarean-section sets and dialysis machines.
The distribution is intended to strengthen the operational capacity of health facilities and ensure that healthcare workers have access to essential equipment needed to provide a wider range of services.
The additional equipment and supplies are expected to help health facilities improve the availability and quality of maternal, neonatal and pediatric care while strengthening diagnostic, surgical, emergency and critical-care services.
The distribution forms part of its broader efforts to improve the readiness of health facilities and ensure that essential equipment is available where it is needed to support quality healthcare delivery nationwide.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the county’s health system by improving the availability of essential medical equipment, supporting healthcare workers and expanding access to quality health services for women, newborns, children and other patients across the country.
