MoH and Partners Kick-Off 2026 Periodic Intensification of Routine Immunization (PIRI) Nationwide

(Montserrado, Liberia, July 14, 2026) The Ministry of Health has launched the 2026 Periodic Intensification of Routine Immunization (PIRI) across all 15 counties of Liberia to reach unvaccinated and under-vaccinated children and strengthen routine immunization services nationwide.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, calls on all parents, caregivers, community leaders, and partners to support this nationwide campaign by ensuring that every eligible child receives their life-saving vaccines.

” This is part of the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to protecting every child from vaccine-preventable diseases”.

PIRI is a time-limited and targeted intervention designed to reach under-vaccinated and unvaccinated children while raising public awareness of the life-saving benefits of immunization. Through this nationwide initiative, health workers and partners will intensify efforts to ensure that no eligible child is left behind.

To ensure the successful implementation of the exercise, the Ministry of Health, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, has deployed a structured supervision and monitoring approach guided by standardized checklists covering planning, logistics, service delivery, monitoring and evaluation, vaccine-preventable disease surveillance, and community engagement.

Supervisors and county health teams will closely monitor readiness and implementation quality, while conducting post-activity evaluations to ensure that identified gaps in routine immunization services are effectively addressed.
