(Monrovia, Liberia, December 30, 2025) — The Department of Health Services at the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, hosted an end-of-year appreciation and awards gathering to recognize the dedication, resilience, and outstanding contributions of staff and volunteers who supported Liberia’s health delivery system throughout 2025.
The ceremony brought together senior officials, program managers, health professionals, and volunteers for reflection, recognition, and a renewed commitment to public health service.
Providing an overview of the program, Deputy Minister for Health Services and Chief Medical Officer of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. Catherine T. Cooper, said the gathering was designed to formally honor individuals and teams whose efforts strengthened service delivery and improved coordination across the health sector.
“This program is intended to appreciate the hard work, discipline, and commitment of our staff and volunteers whose collective efforts have strengthened health service delivery at both national and sub-national levels,” Dr. Cooper said.
Certificates of recognition were subsequently presented to staff members and volunteers who demonstrated exceptional professionalism, commitment, and service during the year. The honorees were applauded for their roles in program implementation, community outreach, and institutional support within the Department of Health Services.
Delivering remarks during the ceremony, Dr. Cooper emphasized the importance of discipline, ethical conduct, and service excellence as essential pillars for sustaining public trust in the health system.
“Professional discipline, ethical behavior, and service excellence must remain the foundation of our work if we are to sustain public confidence in the health system,” she noted, adding that, “this recognition should be seen not as the end of service, but as a call to even higher responsibility.”
Special remarks were also delivered during the program, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to staff development, teamwork, and recognition as tools for motivation and improved performance.
Several programs, including the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), National Eye Health Program, and the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), were recognized as among the best-performing units within the Department of Health Services.
Speaking on behalf of the honorees, Dr. Jonathan Flomo, Program Manager of the National AIDS Control Program, expressed gratitude to the Ministry and reaffirmed the commitment of award recipients to national development goals.
“On behalf of all honorees, we are grateful for this recognition, and we recommit ourselves to supporting the government’s ARREST Agenda through improved service delivery and accountability,” Dr. Flomo said.
Delivering the keynote address, Minister of Health, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, praised the Department of Health Services for its dedication and coordination, describing its workforce as central to the Ministry’s operational success.
“The Department of Health Services is the engine room of the Ministry’s service delivery architecture, and the dedication of its staff and volunteers continues to drive our health interventions nationwide,” Dr. Kpoto stated.
She further commended health workers and volunteers for their sacrifices and resilience, particularly those serving in hard-to-reach and underserved communities.
“Your resilience and sacrifices, especially in underserved areas, are a testament to your commitment to the health and well-being of the Liberian people,” the Health Minister added.
Dr. Kpoto reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, improving staff welfare, and promoting a culture of accountability and excellence across the health sector.
