(Kakata, Margibi County, 2 October 2025)—The Ministry of Health (MOH) brought together senior officials and MACs institutions for an intersectoral meeting in Kakata, Margibi County, to streamline operations and bolster the country’s health system.
The talks involved representatives from the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, and the General Auditing Commission, with a focus on improving accountability, efficiency, and resilience across the sector.
Deputy Health Minister for Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Atty. Malayah T. Chieyoe, told participants that the central aim was to create stronger collaboration. “We want operational systems that are streamlined, responsive, and effective in supporting service delivery across the country,” he said.
Deputy Minister Chieyoe framed the meeting as part of efforts to prepare the system for both routine demands and future crises. “The Ministry is committed to fostering accountability and building systems that can withstand both routine demands and emergency shocks,” he noted.
Discussions centered on identifying bottlenecks that slow down routine operations and on developing practical remedies.
Participants agreed on the need for a clearer division of roles and responsibilities among health actors, arguing that better coordination would translate into improved services for ordinary Liberians.
In separate remarks, stakeholders expressed hope that tighter coordination will extend beyond the ministry’s internal processes, strengthening ties with development partners and communities.
The outcomes of the meeting would feed into ongoing reforms aimed at reinforcing Liberia’s health system for the long term.
