MOH Bids Farewell to Global Fund Country Manager

(MONROVIA, Liberia, February 27, 2026) — The Ministry of Health (MOH) today hosted an official farewell ceremony in honor of the outgoing Country Manager of the Global Fund Portfolio to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Dr. Manasse Kassi.

The event brought together senior officials of the Ministry, representatives of the Liberia Coordinating Mechanism (LCM), development partners, and members of the Global Fund team. The gathering served as an opportunity to recognize Dr. Kassi’s contributions to strengthening Liberia’s health system and advancing national disease control programs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Health Minister Louise Mapleh Kpoto praised Dr. Kassi for his leadership and commitment to Liberia’s HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and Malaria response.

She highlighted his role in providing technical guidance, strengthening health systems, and coordinating donor support across these programs.

“You have been a true partner since you took over as Country Manager. We are grateful for all that you and your team have done to help save lives in this country,” Dr. Kpoto said while honoring the outgoing official.

She further expressed appreciation for the strengthened collaboration between the Government of Liberia and the Global Fund, noting that the partnership has contributed to the sustained delivery of essential health services and measurable progress toward HIV, TB and Malaria control.

Dr. Kpoto emphasized the importance of maintaining strong partnership frameworks and sustaining the momentum in implementing Global Fund-supported grants targeting HIV, TB, malaria, and health system strengthening initiatives.

In his remarks, Dr. Kassi thanked government counterparts, development partners, and local stakeholders for their cooperation and dedication to improving health outcomes in Liberia during his tenure.

“Many thanks to the Global Fund team in Liberia for the successful collaboration over the years. We worked as a team, and the recognition I am receiving today reflects our collective effort,” he said. “I also thank the Government and people of Liberia for the partnership. To the team at the Ministry of Health, I am truly honored.”

The ceremony underscored the enduring partnership between Liberia and the Global Fund in the fight against HIV, TB, and malaria, as well as the shared commitment to building a resilient and sustainable health system.
