Monrovia, Liberia, March 21, 2026) — The Ministry of Health (MOH), through its National AIDS and STI Control Program (NACP), is intensifying efforts to strengthen the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV services, in line with the National HIV Strategic Plan (NSP) 2021–2025.
This focuses on key priority areas, including the early identification of HIV-positive pregnant women, prompt linkage to antiretroviral therapy (ART), sustained retention in care, and improved access to Early Infant Diagnosis (EID). These measures are aimed at enhancing maternal and child health outcomes across the country.
As part of efforts to promote quality service delivery, the NACP has introduced a performance-based incentive scheme that recognizes and rewards high-performing health facilities delivering PMTCT services. The bi-annual initiative provides in-kind support to facilities demonstrating excellence across four core PMTCT cascade indicators.

Consistent performance at the facility level is critical to sustaining gains in the fight against HIV transmission from mothers to their children, noting that recognition and incentives serve as motivation for improved service delivery.
At the latest awards ceremony, Omega Market Clinic emerged as the best-performing PMTCT facility, securing first place. The facility received a large television set and a fan to support service delivery. Receiving the items on behalf of the clinic, Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Bill O. Henries, expressed gratitude to the NACP for the continued support and pledged the facility’s commitment to maintaining its top position.

Soniwein Health Center was named second-best performing facility. Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. Eleanor K. Sampson, received the award and commended the NACP for the recognition, assuring that the facility would continue striving for excellence. She noted that the items would be used to improve care for pregnant women accessing services at the center.
Totota Clinic secured third place among the top-performing PMTCT facilities. The awards were presented by the PMTCT Coordinator of the NACP, Mrs. Annie S. Forleh, who lauded the dedication of healthcare workers and urged facilities to remain committed to delivering quality services.
The Ministry of Health also extended appreciation to Plan International for its leadership support, as well as the Global Fund for its continued funding and partnership in strengthening Liberia’s HIV response through the NACP.
