(November 12, 2024, Paynesville) — In a quest to improve Liberia’s healthcare system, the Ministry of Health (MOH) today received a huge assortment of medical supplies from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Foundation (JNB Foundation) in Paynesville. Several key health facilities, including the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Redemption Hospital, James Davis Memorial Hospital, and Jackson F. Doe Hospital, were selected to benefit from the donation, which includes incubators and medical cabinets. Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Catherine T. Cooper, received the donation on behalf of the Ministry, and expressed gratitude to the JNB Foundation and its partners for their generosity, emphasizing the impact the support will have in saving lives and reducing infant mortality in Liberia. “We know that our neonatal mortality rate is high, and we face significant challenges in caring for newborns,” Dr. Cooper remarked. “This donation from the JNB Foundation is timely and will help us provide the necessary care for our newborns and infants.”
David Saa Fatorma, Chairman of the JNB Foundation, formally presented the donation to the Ministry and stressed the foundation’s commitment to equipping healthcare facilities to serve the Liberian people. “Today, we are here to donate these medical incubators to the Ministry of Health for distribution to public health centers like JFK Hospital and Redemption Hospital, among others,” Mr. Fatorma stated. “This donation, facilitated through Massarco and its parent company in Dubai, is part of an ongoing commitment, with more assistance on the way for Liberia.” “We are pleased to present these items to the Ministry of Health so that healthcare facilities in need can use them to help reduce the infant mortality rate in our country,” Mr. Fatorma added.
