Ministry of Health Reviews and Validates National Standardized Curriculum for Nurses and Midwives

(November 14, 2024, Monrovia, Liberia)— The Ministry of Health (MOH) has begun reviewing and validating the National Curriculum for Nurses and Midwives to elevate healthcare training standards across Liberia. Supported by the World Bank, this initiative aims to equip healthcare workers with essential skills in areas such as Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Critical Care, and Emotional Intelligence-Customer Service. The two-day review and validation exercise, held at the Liberia Board of Nursing and Midwifery, is part of a larger effort to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality by improving in-service training, upgrading curricula, and enhancing healthcare facilities. Working alongside the Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery, the Ministry is dedicated to ensuring that healthcare workers are equipped with vital, modern competencies. “This initiative marks a transformative step in strengthening our healthcare delivery,” said Aissatou Jalloh Bah, Technical Assistant for Curative Services, on behalf of the Ministry. “With the support of dedicated professionals and expert consultants, we are building a robust foundation for the future of nursing and midwifery in Liberia.” The workshop’s agenda includes key topics such as Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Critical Care, Emotional Intelligence, and Customer Service. This National Validation Workshop represents a crucial step toward creating a healthcare system that meets global standards. The Ministry of Health proudly announces the official opening of the National Validation Program and anticipates a lasting, positive impact on healthcare delivery throughout Liberia.
