(Monrovia, Liberia, February 18, 2026)—The Ministry of Health has begun its first-quarter (Q1) 2026 national distribution of drugs and medical supplies, reinforcing efforts to strengthen the country’s supply chain system and ensure uninterrupted access to essential medicines across all public health facilities.
The exercise, which commenced on 9 February 2026 through the Ministry’s Pharmacist Division, forms part of routine quarterly operations designed to maintain consistent availability of medicines and critical consumables in public health institutions nationwide.
As a result, regions 1 and 2, covering counties in the south-eastern corridor, have successfully received their full allocation of Q1 supplies. The deliveries include essential medicines, laboratory consumables, and other critical materials needed to sustain primary and secondary healthcare services throughout the quarter.
The timely dispatch to the south-east reflects ongoing improvements in coordination between central medical stores, regional depots, and county health teams. The Ministry has in recent years prioritized strengthening inventory management, documentation procedures, and last-mile delivery systems to reduce stock-outs and improve accountability.
Meanwhile, distribution to region 3, which comprises Bong, Lofa, and Nimba counties, began on 17 February. Transportation of commodities to county depots and onward delivery to health facilities is currently underway.
The Ministry is working closely with health authorities and logistics partners to ensure that supplies are delivered safely, documented accurately, and received in accordance with established accountability protocols. Monitoring teams are also overseeing the process to verify quantities and maintain transparency at each distribution point.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to equitable access to life-saving medicines across all regions of the country, pledging to continue strengthening national supply chain mechanisms to support universal health coverage goals.
The Q1 distribution exercise is expected to conclude once all remaining regions receive their allocated consignments, ensuring that health facilities nationwide are adequately stocked to serve communities in the months ahead.
