(Monrovia, Liberia, March 10, 2025) The Ministry of Health, through the Institutional Foundations to Improve Services for Health (IFISH) Project funded by the World Bank, has received the first supply of essential medicines and Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health & Nutrition (RMNCAH-N) products. The first supply of essential drugs and RMNCAH-N products is deposited at the Central Medical Store to be distributed to health facilities and hospitals nationwide. The second supply is expected this month, while the third supply is expected in April 2025.
The IFISH Project is a 5-year project approved by the World Bank, which became effective in February 2021. The project development objective is to improve health service delivery to women, children, and adolescents in Liberia. One of the deliverables of the IFISH Project is to improve the availability of essential medicines, RMNCAH-N products, routine vaccines, equipment, and logistics to primary health facilities and hospitals. It aims to increase the availability of essential drugs, traditional childhood vaccines, and reproductive health commodities to save the lives of women, children, and adolescents. Some of the essential medicines and RMNCAH-N products procured include antimalarials, oxytocin, misoprostol, magnesium sulfate, antibiotics, intravenous fluids, etc.
The Ministry of Health remains committed to providing essential drugs and RMNCAH-N products to primary health facilities and hospitals in the Republic of Liberia.
