Nimba County Health Team Completes Renovation of Health Facilities, Upgrades Sanitation System

(Nimba County, Liberia – March 7, 2025)– The Nimba County Health Team (NCHT) has completed the renovation of 15 health facilities, including 12 clinics and three hospitals, along with the county’s main health team office building, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and the County Drug Depot. As part of its efforts to improve sanitation and hygiene standards, the NCHT also upgraded 14 pit toilets to modern flush toilets, installing advanced commode systems to enhance public health conditions. Additionally, the county Health Team has also commenced the repair of hand pumps and water treatment/Chlorination activities for clinics in the county.

Dr. Ponnie Robertlee Dolo, County Health Officer (CHO) of Nimba, has reaffirmed the county’s commitment to eliminating pit toilets. He announced a comprehensive plan to phase out all remaining 38 pit toilets across the county, converting them to modern commode-based flush systems by the end of 2025. “This initiative aligns with our broader goal of improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring a healthier environment for our communities. We remain dedicated to providing safe and hygienic facilities that meet modern standards,” Dr. Dolo stated. The renovations and upgrades mark a step in Nimba County’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its healthcare system and improve service delivery for residents of the county and beyond.
