MOH Establishes Working Group to Bolster Immunization Financing

(Monrovia, Liberia, November 26, 2025)—The Ministry of Health (MOH) has formally established the Health Financing Working Group on Immunization to address persistent funding gaps in the nation’s immunization program. The program is backed by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and aims to secure sustainable financing for Liberia’s vaccination efforts.

Minister of Health, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, commended partners for their collaboration and commitment to Liberia’s health goals.

She praised county superintendents, the Ministry of Finance, and international partners like UNICEF for their engagement.

“Our superintendents have been exceptionally supportive, whenever we call, they show up and help us move our activities forward,” Dr. Kpoto said. “And to our partners at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, your commitment to meeting the obligations of the ARREST Agenda is deeply appreciated.”

The Working Group includes representatives from the Legislature, Executive Branch, local governments, civil society organizations, and development partners like WHO, UNICEF, and the World Bank. It will guide strategic investment in immunization financing and align with national health priorities.

Stakeholders at the meeting described the establishment as crucial to protecting citizens’ health and pledged continued collaboration.

This effort is part of ongoing initiatives to strengthen healthcare systems and ensure sustainable financing for immunization programs, ultimately protecting citizens’ health and well-being.
