(Kakata, Margibi County, March 27, 2025)—A three-day Life Course Strategy Policy workshop of the Ministry of Ministry is underway in Kakata, Margibi County, from March 26-28, 2025. The workshop is organized by the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), with participants drawn from government line ministries and agencies as well as international and development partners.
The strategy adopts a life-course approach to vaccination, ensuring that individuals of all ages benefit from immunization services. This approach aims to protect against vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs), promote healthy aging, reduce zero-dose children (ZDC), and strengthen health systems by integrating immunization with other essential health services. The Acting Manager of EPI, Dr. Yuah A. Nemah, in a brief statement, thanked participants for gracing the event and expressed hope that they will view the vaccination policy for children above 2 years old, adolescents, adults, and at-risk groups. Amongst other areas, deliberations at the event focused on second-year-of-life (2YL) vaccination, adolescent vaccination, adult vaccination, vaccine, and supply chain/logistics. The development and presentation of the Life Course Strategy policy on vaccination draft 1 is formed into four (4) subgroups organization with defined agenda and expectations, power point template, etc. Liberia’s Life Course Vaccination Strategy represents a comprehensive approach to ensuring that individuals of all ages benefit from immunization.
By addressing gaps in coverage, integrating services, and strengthening health systems, Liberia aims to achieve the goals of IA2030 and improve the health and well-being of its population. The successful implementation of this strategy will require sustained commitment from the government, health workers, communities, and international partners.
