(Monrovia, Liberia, April 21, 2025) – The Honorable Minister of Health, Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto, met in audience the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP-Liberia), Dr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, at her Office in Congo Town for their inaugural meeting since his ascendency to the post in December 2024. The discussion centered on strengthening collaboration and partnership between the both institutions, particularly on advancing mobile clinic services and telemedicine initiatives to strengthen Liberia’s healthcare system in underserved regions.
The meeting underscored the Government of Liberia’s commitment to leveraging digital innovation to bridge healthcare gaps. Both institutions agreed to conduct a joint feasibility assessment and mobile, scalable telemedicine solutions.
The UNDP pledged to support the rehabilitation of healthcare facilities across the country, with special emphasis placed on the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Lofa County.
Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, Minister of Health, emphasized, “There is an urgent need for mobile clinics and telemedicine initiatives in Liberia to bridge healthcare gaps, specifically on the reduction of maternal mortality and neonatal deaths.”
The UNDP Liberia Resident Representative, Dr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, stated, “UNDP is keen to support Liberia’s healthcare infrastructure, mobile clinic, and telemedicine ambitions by integrating technology into healthcare, signaling a great step forward for Liberia.”
The Ministry of Health remains committed to working with its development partners to ensure that quality healthcare delivery is accessible, affordable and sustainable to all citizens and residents in the Republic of Liberia.
