Dr. Kpoto Holds Debriefing With Global Fund International Team

(Congo Town, March 3, 2025) – Health Minister Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto held a debriefing session with a delegation from the Global Fund following a successful week-long assessment of Global Fund-supported activities across Liberia. The Global Fund international team was led by Dr. Manasse Kassi, Fund Portfolio Manager for the Western and Central Africa Team. During the meeting, Dr. Kpoto acknowledged the contributions of the Global Fund in strengthening Liberia’s health sector, particularly in disease prevention and improving healthcare service delivery.

She highlighted key initiatives supported by the Global Fund and Gavi, including the construction of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plants, the new annex of the Ministry of Health, and other infrastructure developments. “Our leadership has been proactive in ensuring that Liberia’s health system is strengthened, with quality healthcare accessible to all. We are constructing a mental health center in Benol and working to complete the new annex on the Ministry’s compound to enhance service delivery,” Dr. Kpoto stated. She expressed gratitude for the Global Fund’s partnership and appealed for its continued support in strengthening Liberia’s health sector. In response, Dr. Manasse Kassi commended the Ministry of Health, the Liberia Coordinating Mechanism, and other stakeholders for their efforts in improving healthcare services.

“We are pleased to be in Liberia, working alongside the Ministry of Health to ensure that essential health services reach those in need. The Global Fund remains committed to strengthening Liberia’s health sector,” Dr. Kassi emphasized.The debriefing session, held at the Ministry of Health, was conducted in collaboration with the Liberia Coordinating Mechanism. It provided an opportunity for the Global Fund team to present updates on the implementation status of their projects following a nationwide assessment of various implementing sites.Key discussions focused on findings related to HIV, tuberculosis (TB), malaria services, and overall health system strengthening. The session also covered critical areas such as supply chain management, the newly commissioned PSA plant, and other interventions aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in Liberia.
