MOH Concludes National Validation of Revised Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines

(Monrovia, Liberia, December 5, 2025)—The Ministry of Health has concluded a three-day national workshop to validate Liberia’s revised National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Guidelines.

The workshop was held in Monrovia from December 3–5, 2025. It was convened by the Ministry’s Health Quality Management Unit (HQMU) in collaboration with Jhpiego, with financial support from Plan International Liberia and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

The revised guidelines represent a comprehensive update aligned with global IPC standards and tailored to meet Liberia’s evolving healthcare needs.

Delivering closing remarks, Assistant Minister of Curative Services, Dr. Teyah S. Moore, praised partners, county health teams, and IPC focal persons for their dedication to strengthening IPC implementation across the country.

“I want to appreciate all of our partners, the National Public Health Institute, county health teams, our consultant Mr. Philip Bemah, and IPC focal persons from the various counties,” Dr. Moore said. “Within a short time, this document will be finalized and published. I am appealing to all of us to implement everything contained in this guideline. When we visit your counties, we expect to see improvements in your facilities.”

The three-day workshop brought together national policymakers, county health officers, facility managers, and development partners to scrutinize the draft guidelines through a multi-sectoral, consultative review process. The revised document aligns with standards from the WHO, U.S. CDC, and Africa CDC, ensuring that Liberia’s health facilities remain equipped to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious threats effectively.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a culture of safety in healthcare settings and thanked frontline healthcare workers for their unwavering dedication to safe patient care, a commitment that continues to drive improvements in infection prevention across the country.
